Brent's Blog

I am a 22 year old college student deployed to Iraq. My inbox is getting full of emails, so I thought it would be easier to keep you posted on my experiences here in a blog, and still have an opportunity to read your replies. Please feel free to leave any questions and/or comments by clicking on the comments link below the posts. Also, be sure to leave your name, so I know who has written and visited my blog.

Spur Ride

Here are a few pictures I have of the Spur Ride. I'll dedicate a post to each event with more pictures in the future. Gearing up and getting ready to start the ruck march.
Trying to get ahead of the team for a video opportunity.
Teams making their way around the course.
The weapons station.
Ready to capture the days events.
The grenade station.

Hi Brent, Neat pictures...Grenade 'station' & Weapons 'station'...how "creative"! We pray for your safety every day. I recognize you, even in a 'group' with "shades" on. Take care & God bless you. Love, Elsie Houdek

Emily,

I think it's the army's version of Survivor! :)

Enjoyed your pictures on the Blog as always. You did a very good job. Keep up the good work and the smiling face. I get the feeling that you really like to do the convoy. It makes me nervous. Please take care. We love you and pray for your safety.

Brent,
I enjoy reading your emails and blogs. Thanks for continuing to send them. I posted one of the pictures that you sent last time with your rifle (I'm sure that is NOT the right name for it, sorry!) behind your head. My students look at it and comment often. I have James Sykes' picture up too. It reminds me to pray for both of you daily, which I do. More than anything, I want you to return safely. I know, there are other of my students there as well--and I pray for them too. You and James are 2 that I hear from on a regular basis, and that I have pictures of to put up on the wall. And I'm not even sure of how many others from RC are there. But all servicemen and women get included in thoughts and prayers daily. I read the item on your blog about soldiers wanting everyone to know that they should not oppose the war. I have sent it on to others. You are living in a totally different world that we can't begin to understand. I enjoy the pictures--it helps me see what the country is like. I also enjoyed seeing your truck stuck in the mud. Gave me a good laugh. Please take care of yourself, and take care of each other. Thanks again for making what you are doing real to the rest of us at home. I appreciate it very much. And thanks for being willing to serve your country. We are all proud of you.
